The Institute of Scrap Iron and Steel (ISIS) and the National Association of Recycling Industries (NARI) merged in 1987 to form what was then known as the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI).

4THBIN
4THBIN may seem an unusual name for a business at first glance but, in proper context, the moniker is all too fitting. The name refers to the fourth bin of waste collection that is missing from the typical trio of garbage, paper, and metal waste bins that consumers are used to having in their homes. Electronics recycling—or e-recycling—represents that additional, fourth bin. The company itself was founded in 2009 by a technology consulting firm operating out of New York City.
Momentive Performance Materials
Momentive Performance Materials was established as a brand in 2006, the result of the coming together of four different companies—including GE Advanced Materials—under one name in the silicones space. From its beginnings in private equity, Momentive developed its own unique brand name, culture, and positioning in the chemical industry over the ensuing decade-plus. Today, Momentive is potentially the only remaining pure silicones player in the world, according to Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer, Thanos Yiagopoulos.

When it comes to the future of mining, Mining Innovation Commercialization Accelerator (MICA) Network Director Chamirai Nyabeze says that the industry has become closely tied to the future of the planet itself. This is being driven by multiple factors including the transition toward green energy in mining, a global desire for a low-carbon economy, and ongoing demand for the minerals and metals that make the conveniences of modern life possible. Nyabeze emphasized mining’s role in addressing climate change and climate goals at the recent COP2 event held in Dubai.
Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency is entering its third decade of operations as the foremost organization dedicated to supporting both businesses and owners in the Atlantic provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador). ACOA rang in a new year alongside a remarkable new development for its home base. In March 2023, and with the endorsement of 17 former premiers and deputy premiers of the Atlantic provinces, the PPF (Public Policy Forum) commissioned a report titled the Atlantic Canada Momentum Index. In short, this report gives credence to an ongoing theory that, currently, Atlantic Canada is seeing a considerable upswing in key areas—at times, more so than any other part of the country.
